Cal Baseball Endowment Fund
Cal Baseball Needs Your Financial Support!
The future is bright for Cal Baseball! Under first-year head coach Mike Neu, the Golden Bears achieved a 32-22 over-all record and a 5th place finish in the ultra-competitive Pac-12. The Bears’ sophomore first baseman, Andrew Vaughn, was named the Golden Spikes National Player of the Year, the first Cal Baseball player to earn the honor since its inception in 1978. The Bears are well-positioned to compete for the Pac12 championship in 2019.
The Cal Baseball Foundation is dedicated to securing the financial support necessary to sustain the Cal Baseball program for generations to come. The University reinstated the program in April 2011 when over 900 donors raised $9.6 million for a term endowment fund to support the program for a minimum of 7 years. Since then, the Cal Baseball Foundation has raised additional revenue to extend the life of the endowment through the 2019 season.
Support from Cal Athletics
We are very pleased that the new Athletic Director Jim Knowlton has expressed his firm support for the Cal Baseball Foundation’s work and his commitment to work with us to secure the future of Cal Baseball. We look forward to increased financial support from the University under his leadership. See Jim’s letter of support here.
Join the Campaign for Cal Baseball!
Although we are justifiably proud of what we have accomplished, we need to continue raising money to support the program. With an annual budget of almost $2 million, we aim to replenish the term endowment that will expire at the end of the 2019 season. We have set a goal of raising $5 million by November 1, 2018, and another $5 million by June 30, 2019. With major lead pledges already in hand, we are well on our way toward meeting these goals.
Please consider joining the campaign to sustain Cal Baseball. We are seeking financial commitments to replenish the term endowment and encourage you to make a pledge to help raise $5 million by November 1, 2018.
You may make your pledge to the Cal Baseball Endowment Fund through the University of California Berkeley Foundation using the University Pledge Form. Gifts made to the University are eligible for donor benefits, including credits toward your lifetime gifts to the University (e.g., Builder of Berkeley) and the Cal Athletics Bear Backer program.
If you prefer that the Cal Baseball Foundation manage your pledge, you may complete a Foundation Pledge Form or use our on-line giving form that will allow you to make automatic payments from your credit or debit account
An investment in Cal Baseball will ensure the continuation of its 140-year history on the Cal campus, while achieving high standards of athletic and academic performance, and reflecting the core values of the greatest public university in the world. Please give generously!
Thank you and Go Bears!
